Google has reported that users world-wide are experiencing issues with Google Meets. 

The top 5 issues being reported are: dropped connections/user getting kicked out, lagging, poor audio, ownership issues of a recording, and unable to unmute. 

To begin troubleshooting, according to Google, check all extensions. They have not yet clarified specific extension culprits but they are leaning towards extensions as the main cause of the issue. (See Troubleshooting your Chromebook below.)

Bandwidth, as well, continues to also be an issue. Pull out all of your bandwidth tricks: turn off your streaming camera, disconnect other devices from your network that aren't needed, close any application you are not currently using, move closer to the router. (See Troubleshooting your wifi connection on your Chromebook below.)

If you are working remotely, call your internet service provider to check speed and other reported issues in your general area.
