4/5 Lab Band

4/5 Lab Band Announcement:

Benefits of being in Band

I am excited to announce the beginning of band for the 4/5 students. Studies show that those students who participate in band and orchestra benefit in many ways. Studies show that it increases memory capacity, helps to develop organizational skills, boosts social skills, teaches perseverance, enhances coordination, increases mathematical ability, improves reading comprehension skills, sharpens concentration, and relieves stress. These are a few of the benefits that learning an instrument provides.

Instruments included in Band

The band instruments include: Flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, and snare drum.

Materials Needed for Band

Students must provide their own instrument. Instruments can be rented, purchased or borrowed. Students will also need to purchase a band Method book which costs about $9.00. (Essential Elements 2000 Book 1 –

Band Schedule

Band members will rehearse during flex time on Tuesday and Thursday's from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m.  Band will begin on Thursday, September 5th. Besides the book and instrument, there is no additional cost for this class. Please check back to this page often for updates on calendar.  Sometimes band is cancelled for various reasons such as field studies or testing and sometimes I have sectionals which include specific instruments to give more one on one instruction.
